Need To Look The Part Online? Freshen-Up Your Marketing Like You Would Your Wardrobe
I could admit I’m no fashionista I am just somebody running a integrated marketing agency in Plymouth, Devon but even I know sometimes it’s a smart idea to smarten-up.
I like my slippers, dressing gown, favourite t-shirts (particularly the old tattered ones) and most of all I love my old jeans.
If I’m what I wear, then looking from the outside I guess I look kind of old and beat. From where I am sat I just feel totally comfortable and you know what, I don’t care!
One day I know that I am going to be dragged down the shops and fitted out in some new clothing. It is inescapable and deep within I know that it is what I need.
That being said though, I dread the day I slip into my new posh shirt and jeans combo.
I might look fresh and new but I feel just like a fraud! The person in the mirror just isn’t me; not the person that I know and understand me to be anyhow.
Where are we?
Oh yes, old jeans, old t-shirts, slippers and a unwillingness to ‘sell-out ‘ my ever so thoughtlessly developed ‘look ‘ in favour of something fresh and new.
Where am I going with this?
Marketing.
Online, mobile and local marketing particularly, but the point of the tale could well extend into offline marketing too.
No that isn’t where I want to go, I would like to keep it about you my friend.
If you’re comfortable with your business, marketing, staff, suppliers and clients then maybe you need to step back. Are you comfortable or are you smug?
Is it time you dragged your business down the store and fitted it out in some new clothes so it looks and feels fresh again?
Everyone needs to remember they are not their clothing.
Your business is not its comfortable business practices so don’t identify with ‘it’ with ‘them’.
They may be the way your business has become but they’re not what will sustain it in these modern times when online, mobile and local marketing needs a fresh look because let’s be honest, everyone is looking!
